Acupuncture has everything it takes to be a wonderful, effective form of medicine. Unfortunately, there are many fears, misconceptions and lack of information surrounding this healing art, keeping people from being open to the possibilities. Hopefully this article can cl;ear a path that can lead people to realize the potential acupunture may hold for them.

Acupuncture is not a fad. It is a comprehensive system of healthcare with a continuous clinical history of over 3,000 years. Recent important studies being done in the west to substantiate its effectiveness will undoubtedly comfirm this.

Acupuncture training is rigorous and the material vast. The practice of acupuncture is regulated in 30 states, including New Jersey. Our state its known for its high standards of practice. Anyone who reaches the level of certified acupuncturist is a skilled professional, capable of administering quality patient centered health care.

Many people are aware that acupuncture is sucessful in treating chronic pain and addictions. However, the World Health Organization listed 43 common conditions that may benefit from this treatment. Included are a number of concerns that span the various transitions in a person's life.

The needle thing also seems an issue to many. Acupuncture needles are fine, flexible, and disposable making insertion, performed by a skilled practioner extremely safe and without disconfort. The sessions generally last about 30 minutes and most patients find them relaxing enough to even doze off.

Acupuncture has a lower incident of adverse reactions than many drug or other medical procedures for the same conditions. As a redult, the public demand is increasing for this type of service. Therefore, more and more insurance carriers are looking to cover this cost effective treatment.

Having said all that, hopefully dispelling some fear and shedding some light, we can now show why acupuncture is an ideal form of therapy for everyone. Here are a few simple reasons:

First, acupuncture is strong yetsubtle at the same time. The strenght allows anyone to get the punch needed to bring themselves back into balance, and the subtlety is appreciated by their system.

Second, Healing is aprocess and acupuncture is most effective when patients take an active role in their own healing, making certain lifestyle modification and dietary changes to enhance the treatment.

Third, acupuncture heightens the already keen sense of body awareness that people posess. People can lead themselves and the acupuncturist to the roots of their stress.

Finally, acupuncture theory believes illness can be caused by an imbalance on the emotional, physical or spiritual level. People don't have to separate one from the other. As a result a qualified acupuncturist can hear what the patient is reporting and treat the whole person at the present moment.
